relay for life.

Two weekends ago was the weekend we
had all been waiting and working for.

The whole Bigelow/Weldon clan got together in Rexburg to walk and raise money for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.

My beautiful, motivated, devoted, and inspiring sister, Lisa Marie, was one of the key organizers for the whole event. She put together an incredible event and helped raise a little over $40,000 for the American Cancer Society. She got all of the family together and created our team, "Sisters for Sirri."

This sweet little thing was the inspiration behind it all. Sirri was diagnosed with cancer two years ago this coming August. And because of a very inspired mother and several incredible doctors, she is a healthy, very silly, spunky, and cancer free six year old!!!

Our family is eternally grateful for the assistance Sirri and her family received during her time at Primary Children's Hospital. And even more grateful for a gracious Heavenly Father who kept her here with us. There is no way to give back, really. But we did our best to raise funds and walk all night long in hopes of more people being blessed with the outcome we now enjoy.

Sweet, sweet Meggers.

To kick off the whole event, they begin the evening by introducing all of the cancer survivors that are there and their caregivers. They then have the cancer survivors walk the first lap of the event to honor the strength and courage.

Sirri and Lisa were at the very front of the Survivor Lap the whole way around. It was a very touching moment. And I of course cried.

Kim and Sarah Jane.

Lara and Aubry came up for the all of the fun festivities also. It was so great to see them. Even if it was just for a few hours.

Hilarious.
This is really the faces we were making.
It wasn't planned.
Totally legit.
Atleast we are still pretty.

The whole "Sisters for Sirri" team. Minus Kim :(

This was a great event. A great reminder that there are so many things we, the ordinary, everyday people of the world, can do so much to make a difference!

(Don't forget you too can help make a difference by making a purchase here.)

I already can't wait for next year!

What a wonderful thing to see all of our daughters, granddaughters, sisters-in-law, sons, grandsons and all walking in the Relay For Life!! I loved it! Just wish I had been able to stay longer, but not this time. I am getting much better though! Pretty soon, I will be the same old Grandma again!! With more spark than I have had lately!
We love you!!
